About the Director:

Mrs. Johnson earned her bachelor of music education degree from University of Northern Colorado, her major instrument was clarinet. She studied four summers with Dr. Jill Trinka, as University of North Texas, and earned her Kodaly certification. She has also earned Suzuki piano-level 1 certification, Orff-level 1 certification, and completed World Music Drumming-level 1. She has been an accompanist and a private instrumental music teacher since 1986.

Mrs. Johnson began teaching for Denver Public Schools in 1988 at Hamilton Middle School, where she taught four years. With the birth of her first child, she chose to stay home, and spent 15 years at home with her three children, during which she taught piano, woodwinds and theory lessons. She also spent 10 years in Suzuki violin and cello lessons with her own children. In January of 2007, Mrs. Johnson began working at Thomas Jefferson High School. She enjoys the students and staff at TJ, and enjoys watching the students develop their musical abilities.
