Students interested in learning a string instrument - violin, viola, cello or bass should contact Ms. Johnson via email, or visit room 148.

At this time TJ does not offer a beginning string class as part of the academic curriculum. Arrangements can be made, though, for lessons with Ms. Johnson or one of the advanced string students. We are also exploring the possibility of offering Saturday classes. I have had great success helping interested students gain the skills to later join our advanced orchestra. Several of these students have gone on to study music in college, as well. YOU'RE never to old to start a new skill.

Another possibility would be working with a private teacher in the area, I can provide anyone interested with names of some teachers in the area. Be certain to interview a couple teachers - ask about their training and experience, rates, and methodology. I highly recommend the Suzuki method of teaching, supplemented by some music literacy/theory instruction.
